What I'm Up To
Born in Phoenix, Arizona, I studied Studio Art at the University of Arizona and have been painting for 8 years. I work primarily in oil, but I also love drawing and getting experimental with inkjet photographic transfers.
I have shown recently at Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium - bringing together the art and science communities in Tucson and Flagstaff, Arizona. I received Third Place (2014) and First Place (2013) at The Art of Planetary Science, and Best of Show at NightVisions V. I am also drawing animal portraits by commission and for charity, for rescue shelters and wildlife conservation fundraisers.
I am interested in the future of humans in space. When I work on my paintings, I envision the vast amount of space left to explore, with the possibility of undiscovered planets in mind. I think at this point in time the relationship between humans and space is unclear. For example, there is no one in my family who expects to travel to or interact with space in their lifetime; and I think this is unfortunate. My hope is that my artwork will help bring the topics of astronomy and science back into everyday thoughts and conversation.
